Located in Chilliwack within the Greater Vancouver area, Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park is home to one of the most elegant waterfalls on the West Coast.
Natural Elegance
The falls drop from a height of nearly 400 feet (122 meters), cascading over a smooth, 75-foot-wide rock face. As the water hits the rock, it fans out into a delicate, misty white veil, perfectly resembling its namesake.
The Trail and Ecosystem
The park is a classic example of a West Coast Hemlock ecosystem. The forest is a lush canopy of Western Hemlock, Western Red Cedar, Bigleaf Maple, and Red Alder.
-
The Walk: It is an easy, 15-minute stroll from the parking lot through the towering trees to the base of the falls.
-
Accessibility: Situated conveniently right off Highway 1, it is a popular rest stop and “must-see” attraction for travelers heading from Vancouver toward the BC interior.
A Winter Warning
While the falls are stunning in the winter when they partially freeze, visitors must exercise extreme caution:
-
Slippery Terrain: The base of the falls often becomes an ice rink, making footing very treacherous.
-
Falling Ice: Large chunks of ice can break off from the rock face above and fall without warning.
